Nahum 1:7-8

Nahum is not a book I have read or written out of much. Verse 1 says, “This message concerning Nineveh came as a vision to Nahum, who lived in Elkosh.” Nahum is about 150 years AFTER Jonah. So they had turned to God & lived for Him for a good while.

Assyria was becoming an issue for Nineveh, so God was warning them and wanting them (Nineveh) to trust Him. That’s who I believe verse 8 is about. God knows what the Assyrians are planning. (He knows everything, remember?)

Whenever enemies are talked about in the Bible, especially the Old Testament, it’s not just the people. It’s not just non-Christians or non-Jewish people, just because they dont believe. They are actually trying to invade God’s people & capture them. God wants everyone to be in a relationship with Him. He wants people to go to Heaven when they pass away. He is a just God, but He is not passive.

We can trust God in our troubles. He is always right there. Close to us as we trust His ways, no matter what.
