Matthew 5:43-45
Dictionary.com defines enemy as, “a person who feels hatred for, fosters harmful designs against, or engages in antagonistic activities against another, an adversary or opponent.” During Jesus’ time, the Israelites had a lot of people they considered enemies. This is one thing I love about Him, He came to fully change their mindsets.
When you love someone who doesn’t like you, you have the opportunity to let Jesus shine through you. This could bring them into a relationship with Him if they aren’t already saved.
Don’t hear me wrong! Ok? This has to look different based on the person. I know someone who so badly doesn’t want anything to do with Jesus, she won’t even eat or shop at places that she knows are owned by Christians. I love her by praying for her & NOT engaging in any type of Christian talk with her. She hears me talk to others though. I wouldn't call her my “enemy” but this was the best example I could think of.
God loves everyone & wants to be in relationships with people, no matter what.
