Jeremiah 17:7-8

Jeremiah said this “but” in verse 7 because in verse 5 he said, “Cursed are those who put their trust in mere humans, who rely on human strength & turn their hearts away from the LORD.” Humans are flawed. Even the ones that seem perfect in our eyes. Humans WILL let us down. Period. No ifs, ands, or buts about that!

The kind of trust Jeremiah & I are talking about is trusting humans ABOVE God. God is to be first in our hearts & lives. Not a human.

When we trust God first & fully, we have a hope & confidence that can’t be shaken or take away. He knows all, sees all, and has a plan for our lives that is GOOD. Humans manipulate, abuse, & use people everyday for THEIR benefit. We must trust those we are in a relationship with, but not to the degree that we trust God. When we trust God like that, we are strong, powerful, & fully provided for.
