Psalm 37:3-4

When I was compiling this list, I noticed there are a lot of verses on trust in the Psalms. I know we ususally think of David wriitng most of the Psalms, but there are other authors. (Moses is one.) Both of those men had times that they seriously had to trust God, didn’t they? Today’s & tomorrow’s verses are David writing. This chapter is his Hebrew Acrostic poem where He is using the Hebrew Alphabet. This whole chapter sounds like really good advice from someone who learned the hard way as well as someone who understands life’s ups and downs.

Both of these verses are what I call IF/THEN verses. David says if you _____ then _____ will happen. Verse 3 is trusting the LORD and living safely in the land & prospering. When we do life God’s way, while trusting Him, amazing things can happen.

Verse 4 is tricky. Our earthly and worldly definition of delight isn’t exactly the LORD’s. The desires of our hearts aren’t what you think either. God isn’t a cosmic Genie in a bottle just waiting to grant our wishes. As you grow Spiritally your desires mimic God’s. Delighting in Him is enjoying your relationship with Him. Once we are living His ways, enjoying time with Him, becoming more like Him, then our heart’s desires will be given. Sometimes, that’s fast, other times it’s slow. Either way, living for Him and letting Him move, work, and bless is the BEST way to live!
