Isaiah 41:10

As we have been learning about trusting God this month, we see that He promises to be with us. Bad things happen to good people all the time, which is why they question God. “If He was with me, why did He let ______ happen to me?” They question. I get it. I’ve had my moments of doubt too.

The truth of the matter is, while God does prevent many things from happening, He can’t stop it all. Why? Because He equipped humans with free will. All throughout the Bible, even after God gave people certain rules, they stepped out from under God’s care and did their own thing. This includes evil people. The one thing in the whole world that God can't do is over ride free will.

When He created Adam & Eve, He placed that within them. (Without free will we couldn't CHOOSE to love Him. Therefore it would not be a real relationship.) The enemy tempted them, so they fell and disobeyed God. Sin entered the world and we’ve been battling it ever since.

God is with us and He does want to strengthen and help us through all of life’s troubles. One of my favorite parts of this verse is God will hold us up with His victorious RIGHT hand. Take a second and go read verse 13. If God uses His right hand & He is holding us by our right hand, where is He standing? He’s facing us!!! He’s blocking out some of the things coming against us. He takes some fiery darts on our behalf. What an amazing God we live & serve, huh? (Normally we hold hands with people by our opposites, their left, our right.)

I’m so thankful I’ve learned to trust Him over the years. It’s worth it.
