Philippians 3:10-11
The book of Philippians is Paul’s letter to the church at Philippi that he planted. That town was SO far away from Jerusalem. It’s at the top of the map I attached in Macedonia & Thrace. (Highlighted in red.)
After Paul met Jesus on the road to Damascus, he became a missionary to the Gentiles. Gentiles just means the non-Jewish world. Paul knew the Torah, as he had been a Pharisee. So, having known the history, he then learned more about Jesus to share the Good News to the world. You can't plant churches and leave them without instructions. (Or correction.)
Chapter 3 is titled “The Priceless Value of Knowing Christ.” Paul warned them to watch out for people trying to pull them away from their faith. Our verses are very powerful, but I’m going to be honest. I don’t like suffering so thinking of suffering for Christ makes me a bit uncomfortable. I know it would be worth it though. Jesus suffered terribly for me and took my punishment. Besides getting to know Him & experience the mighty power that raised Him from the dead, I guess I can sacrifice and suffer some too. However, I do know that Jesus came to give us abundant life do I must keep that in mind too. What do you think?
