Philippians 2:13

“For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases Him.”

Paul was writing to the church he planted in Philippi and encouraging them. In verse 12, he reminds them of how they followed his instructions while he was there & how since he isn’t there, it’s MORE important that they follow those instructions. He also said that working out our salvation happens by obeying God with deep reverence and fear.

When we do that, God does what verse 13 says. Some people take verses out of context. I’m reminded of Psalm 37:4 that says to delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart. It’s more about letting God work in us, giving us the desire and power to do what pleases Him. Our desires line up with His when we are fully surrendered and living for Him.
