James 1: 5-7

I know today’s verses don’t have the word “trust” in them. But stick with me, OK? First of all, James, Jesus’ brother, wanted us to know that wisdom was ours for the taking! All we have to do is ask God for it. A lot of people stop right there. Verse 6 is so important.

When we ask for wisdom, we have to trust God fully and be sure that we aren’t divided between Him and the world. That’s one of my big pet peeves about secular music artists. They have a voice gifted by God. So they choose to sing a song or two about Him, while the others are worldly. They are divided. I can guarantee you that if they would have gone on a Christian record label, they would have been just has successful.

Will we doublt sometimes when we ask God for things? SURE we will. Especially when those things take a while to come to us. God promised us wisdom though. So it’s not a matter of IF He will. It’s a matter of WHEN. God keeps His promises & we can trust Him on that. Has anything ever happened to you that you know He promised and it happened?

For me, when I lost my twins, God told my then unsaved (now ex) husband at the time, that we would have the next baby. (That was my 2nd miscarriage.) I held on to that promise during early labor and I did not waver. That “baby” is now 27 years old and has a family of his own! God is a Man of His Word. We can trust that!

What is your key take away from these verses?
