1 Thessalonians 3: 11-12
This letter, once again, is Paul, Silas & Timothy writing to the church they planted. Paul & Silas had stayed in Athens at one point & sent Timothy back to see them. He returned & reported to Paul how well this church loved each other. Paul was encouraged because they were standing firm in their faith. This group of missionaries prayed every day for their church plants. They wanted to visit them again, which is why he said that in verse 11.
Verse 12 is something we should all pray for! My mind pictures a coffee mug & someone pouring coffee into it, but not stopping. Can you see the coffee just pouring out on to the counter? Paul’s prayer & declaration for them was that their love for one another AND for ALL people would overflow like that.
Everyone needs & deserves the RIGHT kind of love. God’s love is pure & unconditional. That’s harder for us to do, but we should try! That kind of love heals people’s hearts. I don’t know about you, but I’d love to be a part of someone finding God’s unconditional love & healing.
