Colossians 3:12-14
If you are my age or older, you might remember the Coca Cola commercial & song about buying the world a Coke to be in perfect harmony. That’s what came to my mind at the end of verse 14.
God wants us to “clothe” ourselves with the characteristics listed because that’s what He is like & He wants us to treat others like that.
Clothe is such an interesting term. Instead of saying, “Be like this.” We have the image of putting on clothing. We wear clothes every day. We pick & choose our outfit for the day, then wear it. While it’s not something on the inside of us, people see it & the clothing does represent us. Our style. What we like. What we feel good in.
Now apply that to tenderhearted mercy, kindness, gentleness, patience & love. If we wake up every day, decide to put these on & treat people accordingly through them, how different would our world be?
